Api-Bioxal is an oxalic-based Varroa mite treatment. It is registered by the USDA and is approved by the E.P.A. Available in 35g.

Api-Bioxal can only be shipped to a physical address and not to a PO BOX.

Oxalic Acid Vapors kill Varroa mites, although it is not certain how. It is thought that the vapors enter through the soft pads of the mite's feet and travels to the blood stream. It is also thought that it destroys parts of the mite's mouth.

The recommended dosage is one gram per brood chamber. When used as directed, oxalic acid vapors do not harm the queen, bees or brood. Oxalic acid does not kill mites that are in the brood. So it is best to treat when the least amount of brood is present. At that time it will kill 95% of mites in the hive.

Oxalic acid is an organic compound that is found naturally in many foods such as, peanuts, pecans, spinach, rhubarb and chocolate. It is what gives food the bitter taste.

The EPA approved Oxalic Acid to be used in beehives on March 10, 2015. The individual states must also approve. Arkansas has approved.
