The 10-Frame medium super, sometimes referred to as Illinois Super is constructed of commercial grade pine. It is painted with an outdoor latex white paint. Frames & foundation are sold separately. The medium super functions as the honey super. It is also commonly used as the second box of a brood chamber, directly above the hive body. The weight full of honey and bees is estimated as 55-65 pounds.

Commercial grade will have tight knots, as compared to select grade that has no knots.
